UV Me UP!

I promised a follow up on the UV Gel nail polish so here it is … DO IT, DO IT!! I am going on week #3 and these babies still look as good as day #1! With regular nail polish I BARELY make it to DAY 3 without it chipping. I gotta say $25 well spent!

MMM MMMM Good!

For my Aunt’s Birthday we all went to Shiro and filled our faces with some of the finest dining I’ve had in a while. Fire explosions, Shirley Temples, and Rice Hearts exploded all over the scene. Afterwards, we went to Delia’s house for coffee and cake. I was responsible for picking up dessert, as per ush. While at Carvel getting the ice cream cake that we all go wild for, I came across this little ditty and my life was changed! So attractive, so delicious, so awesome!

Comparing Apples to Oranges

I love Target. I often go there with the intention of picking up one item and I walk out spending an entire paycheck. It’s never a five minute trip to Target either. Once I get there, it’s like a vortex of time. I get lost in all the fun stuff and all of the things I never even knew I needed. Well, you can imagine how excited I was to hear that the Target Stores on Long Island would soon be expanding their grocery section to include produce. You can imagine how even more excited I was when they broke ground and began working on the first store. And finally, how excited I am now, that the first store’s produce section is finished! The store near my office is chock full of fruits and veggies and while I have to wait for the store near my home to finish their construction, I am overjoyed just thinking about doing all my shopping in one place!

Bring Caesar Back

Ever since the first moment I wrapped my mouth around Taco Bell’s Chicken Caesar Grilled Stuff Burrito life was never the same. It was like a little cloud of Heaven bursting with Oh Holy goodness. Sadly though, the Burritos time was short lived and I have a better chance of J Tims bringing sexy back than T Bell bring Caesar back…

Talking Baseball... Andy, Mo and Jeter, Yankees Baseball ...

Baseball season is finally upon us and I am beyond psyched. It’s been 5 long months since I’ve enjoyed a hot dog, fries, a gorgeous evening and 5 hours worth of baseball… and what a better way to open the season then at that hell hole, Fenway Park. Now, opening day just so happens to fall on the same day the Big JC resurrected, meanwhile the rest of the league has to wait until tomorrow, and in my opinion, that means something. I did enjoy Easter Sunday in a sweet little number, but was sure to change into office Yankee gear for the big game. This year, I can support my team in fetch sweats and comfy hoodies as Victoria’s Secret came out with the Exclusive Pink Major League Baseball Collection. While some of items are a little too south shore for me, others I will definitely be sporting in honor of my team. I’m just happy that it is now socially acceptable to wear sweats to the games!

Soild as a Rock

My future sister-in-law’s nails always look perf. She informed me that she pays $40 every other week for a UV Gel manicure and I thought to myself aiiiichhheeee mama. But after seeing how perfectly polished her nails ALWAYS look and hearing so much about this UV Gel ish, wanted to give it a whirl. My friend, and Manicurist, Angela, called me Friday afternoon to inform me that they finally got the UV Gel manicure supplies and knowing that I am always down to try new things (IE: matte finish polish, OPI Suede Polish, Moon Manicure, ect) asked if I would be interested in giving it a go. Charging $25, a descent amount less than most, I went for it. The process is a little different than a regular manicure and once it’s finished, it’s dry and you’re good to go. There’s no wasting time waiting for your polish to dry. My salon only has in 12 colors, mostly pinks and corals, but a few dark colors: Russian Navy and Lincoln Park After Dark, which, from what I hear is an average amount to have in. If it catches on; hopefully the color selection will improve. Now begins the 2 observation. I will be checking it daily and will report back in 2 weeks.

Beans, Beans they're good for your heart ...

I was recently flipping through a Bloomingdale’s catalog and something caught my eye... A nice little piece of art that reinforces the importance of a balanced diet. I decided to recreate this for my kitchen. Using “dotum” font in Microsoft word, I created the phrase “Eat More Fiber”, so that it read like an eye chart. I printed it out in thick, white cardstock paper. Then, using a 50% off coupon to Michael’s, which I printed from their website, I purchased a tan, double layer matte (lucky for me, it was on clearance) and a black frame. I put them all together and violá …

In The Summa Time When The Weather is High ...

With the smell of summer in the air, I’m doing all I can to rope it in … asap! Don’t get me wrong, I like the winter and I LOVE the fall, but after the holidays, I’m over it… And lets be honest, no one does summer quite like New Yorkers. With the first glimpse of a lil sunlight and temperatures above 60 degrees, everyone was out in full bloom. The kids on the block were running wild with their jump ropes, balls and bats and bicycles, and I thought to myself, “why do they get all the fun?!?”. Billy and I quickly dusted off our beach cruisers and the mission began … Were making Westbury a Beach Town … either you’re with us or you’re against us.

Waffer Thin

A friend of mine from work, Doreen, is always cooking up fabulous dishes and brining me in even cooler snacks. Knowing I’m trying to drop some lbs, Doreen recently brought me in a package of Cannon Cakes. According to the nutrition label, I can eat the entire bag of these and still have dessert without feeling guilty! But I don’t. I’ve decided to incorporate it INTO my dessert! I cover one of the wafers in a coating of peanut butter. I then cut up a banana, drizzle a like honey over it and sprinkle it with cinnamon and then … bon appetite

Where my Peeps At?!?

Peep (no pun intended) this little ditty of Easter Candy I whipped up in my apothecary jars.

De - Lish!

I like my dudes fast, and my meals, even faster. So, you can imagine how pleased I was with myself when I concocted this little ditty. It takes a total of maybe 20 minutes to cook, from beginning to end… and that includes cutting the chicken AND the veggies!

First, I throw a bag of Uncle Ben’s boil in a bag, brown rice into a pot of boiling water. While that’s doing it thing, I take the package of chicken that I already cut up into cubes and put it into a pan that’s coated in a thin layer of olive oil on the stove.

Next step: throw a nice lil medley of veggies into a wok pan. I prefer a non – stick one so you don’t have to use any additional oil or spray to prevent the veggies from sticking.

Continuously rotate back and forth between the chicken and the veggies stirring them up so that they do not burn. Around 2 mins before they are finished cooking, add 3 – 4 table spoons of Taco Seasoning to the chicken and about 2 tea spoons of low sodium teriyaki sauce to the vegetables. Continue to stir.

After about 10 mins remove the rice from the pot of boiling water. Cut the bag open and pour about a half cup each into 2 bowls. Then layer the chicken and the vegetables on top, mix and you have yourself a nice little stir fry. Holler!

Unfriendly game of paintball ...

A few months ago I would have killed you for the Marc by Marc Jacobs white paintball dress and I have been meaning to write about it since. Now today it’s sold out, and I still don’t have it … what your back.

Honey I Shrunk the Lappy

When it comes to all things cool, I often turn to my pal Sharifa. We have the same taste in clothing, food and more importantly, technology. You can imagine how I jelly I was when she waltz into the office with a brand new hp mini. So, sleek and pretty, and tiny enough to fit into a tote, I need to have one. It comes in a fabulous blue color that would go perfectly with my phone, water bottle and ipod case… This weekend Sharifs gets the ipad … I’m intrigued.
